வேலணை மத்திய கல்லூரி மண்டப புனரமைப்புத் திட்டம்
This packet is a funding and approval request for renovating the main hall at Velanai Central College in Jaffna. In a letter dated 1 February 2025, Principal V.E. Gaston Roy thanks retired Senior DIG K.P.P. Pathirana for attending a zonal function as Chief Guest. He then asks Pathirana to fund repairs to the school’s worn-out main hall, which serves more than 750 students. The school committee set two conditions: the traditional Hindu temple next to the hall must not be structurally altered, and the hall must keep its name, the Dr. Withiyalingam Thuraisami Memorial Hall. Three days later, Pathirana wrote to T.C.A. Danapala, the Senior DIG for the Northern Province. He thanked Danapala for helping with the 20 January 2025 event, where school supplies were given to children in the Kayts police area, and asked him to forward the request to the Northern Province Education Ministry secretary for approval. The rest of the packet is a works schedule prepared by Arch International Pvt Ltd. For the main hall, it covers: - roof repairs, plus an extended eave linking the hall to the kovil (temple) - new ceilings, new doors and windows, LED lighting, a PA system and stage lighting - solar panels and standby generators - new male and female toilets, landscaping, boundary wall repairs and stage upgrades - decorative kovil-style moldings on the interior columns For the kovil, the plan adds a new Madappalli (storage building for pooja items), lighting and molding on the boundary wall columns, protective grille work, and a carved entrance arch that would include the existing bull statues. The packet ends with a floor plan showing 350 seats, a detailed drawing of the column design, and before-and-after images of the hall interior.
